Martin is a highly experienced engineer, with over 30 years experience in engineering, manufacturing and quality management.
As well as being a Chartered Quality Professional, Martin is also highly qualified, with first class honours degree in Mechanical Design and Manufacture, and a Master of Business Administration.
Martin's career started as a shop floor inspector in a precision engineering environment, with early exposure to BS5750 Quality Management Systems and internal audit. Working for a number of organisations over the years, Martin also gained knowledge of QS9000, TS16949, and AS9100 Quality Management Systems, with Senior Quality Engineer and Quality Manager positions, from complete system implementation, through significant changes to certification requirements through the development of ISO9001.
Martin has also gained knowledge and experience of broader business process improvement activities, including Just in Time, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
More recently, Martin has been an Assessment Manager at the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, assessing certification bodies under ISO/IEC17020, 17021 and 17065, with technical assessment in ISO9001, AS91XX, ISO13485 and the Machinery Directive.
Martin has been providing world-wide auditing services since 2003. Since 2012 Martin has been a Technical Assessor QMS (EA 33), BCMS and ISMS for UKAS, which involves reviewing processes of certification bodies and witnessing their auditors.
Martin's activities concentrate on best practice, continuous improvement, process and compliance audits, eg Integrated Management Systems, Information Security, ISO 27001/2 (2005 and 2013 revisions), BS 7799, Business Continuity, ISO 22301, ISO 17021, ISO 27006, SOX, SAS70, PCI-DSS etc. as well as supporting implementation of those.

I make extensive use of collaboration facilities, eg broadband, phone and video conferencing, Skype, WebEx, VPN, portals, OpenPages, SharePoint and other tools etc., to perform remote audits as well as to design, educate and manage distributed audit teams.
o My assignments typically last between a few days and three months at a time and regularly reoccur periodically, eg annual audits consisting of one to three slots.

Keith has a diverse but relevant experience base – heavy industry, land and water ecology management, agriculture, waste management, contaminated land management, sustainability and accreditation all fall under his career portfolio.
Keith was awarded an MSc in Integrated Environmental Management from the University of Bath, holds a BSc(Hons) in Environmental Health and is a Chartered Environmentalist and Full Member of the Institute of Environmental Management.
Keith is also a registered environmental auditor with IEMA and has been a contributor to BSI Standards on environmental matters (e.g. new ISO 14001 standard). Keith has most recently worked as an Assessment Manager for UKAS, where he acted as a specialist assessor for environmental matters and chaired the environmental committee. Keith continues to act as a specialist Lead Assessor to UKAS.
